REGISTRATION INFORMATION FOR SPRING SEASON 2012.
Note: Fall season 2012 will be a separate registration period for ALL players in August 2012.
On-line registration for Spring season 2012 opens January 3rd, 2012

On-line registration is available for those paying by Master Card, Discover Card or Visa.
If at all possible, please register on-line as it saves paper and eliminates many hours of database entry and check processing.
You may also print, complete and mail the registration form, birth certificate (if required) and payment to PO Box 25996, Alexandria, VA 22313 or deliver them to the office at 1108 Jefferson Street.
Please note that the birth certificate or passport copy is due to the office by 2/2/2012, at the same time as the Registration Form. If the Registration Form is completed and the Birth Certificate is NOT turned in, it will be considered a Late Registration incurring an additional $25 late fee, with the player being placed on a team ONLY if there is space available.
You may also register in-person at the office during the office hours of 9:15am to 12:00 noon on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Please note: Credit cards are not accepted in the office.You may pay with checks, cash or money orders.
If your family is new to ASA, or if your player has not played within the last year, please visit the Frequently Asked Questions page located at the "About Us" drop-down menu tab at the top of the main page.

New players must submit proof of age:
Please submit a copy of the player’s birth certificate or passport along with the registration form. If you register on-line, you must mail, fax or email the birth certificate before registration is considered complete. If the birth certificate is not received in the office by 2/2/2012 the registration will be considered a Late Registration and incur an additional $25 late fee, with the player being placed on a team ONLY if there is space available.
For the 2012 calendar year, children born on or before July 31, 2007 are eligible to play.
Please do not request new players to be placed on specific teams or with specific friends. Every attempt is made to form teams by neighborhood, and placement also depends upon coach availability.

These fees include the Alexandria City mandated youth sports field use fee:
$10.00 for the Spring season.

NON-RESIDENT FEE (A City of Alexandria mandated fee):
This additional fee of $25.00 per season, must be paid by families living in zipcodes other than 22301, 22302, 22304, 22305, 22311, 22312, 22313 and 22314. In addition, a few addresses within these listed zipcodes are in Fairfax County, not Alexandria City, and those families are also required to pay the additional non-resident fee of $25.00 per season.

UNIFORMS*:
A uniform is required to play in any U5-U12 ASA game and may be purchased at the ASA office during office hours (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 9:15am-12:00 noon, and during evening hours on 3/31, 2/1 and 2/2/12 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
You may order and pay for any uniform items on the registration form, and then visit the office to pick up your ordered uniform. Size choice can be changed at that time.
You may also pay only for registration at this time, and later visit the office to choose and pay for your uniform items. Either way you will have to visit the ASA office to claim your uniform items. If you are unable to visit the office for pick-up, please call the office and other arrangements can be made.
PLEASE NOTE: Older players (U13-U19) order uniforms through their coaches and should not purchase uniform items at the time of registration.
For ALL age groups, shin guards are mandatory at practice and games.

REFUNDS:
ASA will only make refunds before the first game of the season is played.

VOLUNTEERING:
If you wish to volunteer as a coach or assistant coach, please do so as you complete your player’s on-line registration. At that time please also complete the Kidsafe form for a background check.
If you register by mail, please print and fill out the volunteer form AND Kidsafe form from the ASA website and include those forms with your registration.
Each team needs a head coach and an assistant coach.
Each age-group needs a coordinator.
In addition, each Spring a new U5 coordinator is needed. Each Fall a new U7 coordinator is needed.
You can volunteer for any of these positions on-line, or email ASA if you are interested.

COMPLETE REGISTRATION:
A complete registration includes a filled out REGISTRATION FORM (on-line or paper copy), copy of BIRTH CERTIFICATE (if a new player) and PAYMENT (on-line credit card or in-person/mail-in check, cash or money order).
Complete registrations are due at the office (NOT post-marked) by February 2nd, 2012 for the Spring Season. Any registration not complete by, or received after, 8:00 pm on 2/2/12 will be considered a Late Registration.
Make all checks payable to ASA. Returned checks will be charged a $25.00 fee.
Credit cards are not accepted in the office. If you do not register on-line please use cash, check or money-order in the office.

LATE REGISTRATION:
Late registrations will be accepted both on-line and in-person on 2/7, 2/8 and 2/9/2012 with an additional $25.00 late fee. Late registrants, whether continuing players or new players, will only be placed on a team if there is a need for additional players in an age-group.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND that age-group coordinators (NOT coaches) determine if there is a need for additional players.

OFFICE LOCATION:
The ASA office is located at 1108 Jefferson St. in the Lee Center. We are on the first floor, first hallway on the left, first office on the left. Deliver forms here, or mail to: ASA, PO Box 25996, Alexandria, VA 22313. (Please do not mail registrations to the Lee Center address; they will not reach us.)

*FINANCIAL AID:
Financial aid is available for both registration and uniform fees. Our aid program is based on the same criteria as the Alexandria City Public School Free Lunch Program. A copy of your player’s enrollment in the lunch program is required for aid consideration.
Please note that registrants applying for financial aid may complete their household information on-line, but submit a printed Registration Form, birth certificate or passport, and payment directly to the office. The on-line registration is not able to process financial aid.
Once the player’s Alexandria City Public School Free Lunch program enrollment letter is received in the office, the financial aid available is:
$ 45 registration for the Spring season 2012 (This includes the City Field Fee of $10).
Uniform items are additional, at half the full-fee price on the Registration Form.
